FREEBURG, Ill. (KMOV.com) - A 5-year-old girl with a serious medical condition was rewarded with the surprise of a lifetime on Monday.

Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Katrina Scannell and her closest family members will take a week-long trip to Disney World.

Katrina was diagnosed with a tumor on her brain stem that affects her immune system and causes other complications.

Despite her illness, Katrina continues to demonstrate bravery and strength, whether inside the classroom or at the doctor's office.

"She misses school for treatment, and she comes back and you wouldn't know it," said Natasha Tucker, a special education teacher at Freeburg Primary School. "She is so happy, and she is always helping her friends, and she always wants to help me."

Friends, family, and teachers gave the kindergarten student a proper send-off, with a performance from her school's cheer squad and a choral rendition of Frozen's "Let it Go."

After getting cleared by her doctor, Katrina leaves Tuesday for Disney World, alongside her mother, grandmother, and aunt.

Queen Elsa and Kristoff are just two of the Disney characters the 5-year-old is excited to see during her visit.
