Two men in custody after allegedly attacking St. Charles County officers

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Two St. Charles County residents are in custody after allegedly attacking officers who responded to their home Saturday.

Police responded to a family dispute in the 5400 block of Enchanted County just after noon on October 31, and when they attempted to enter the home, 20-year-old Kevin Wiegand reportedly advanced toward them with a baseball bat.

The officers backed out of the home, ordering him to drop the bat and once he did, Wiegand attempted to close the door. During this time a window shattered causing a cut on one of the officer’s hands.

A second man, 20-year-old Adam Wiegand then attempted to assault the officers. He was subdued and taken into custody. At that point, the region SWAT team and negotiators were called to the home.

As they arrived Kevin Wiegand fled the house and led officers on a foot chase around the perimeter of the home. He was eventually tased and taken into custody.

Kevin Wiegand with assault in the second degree on a law enforcement officer, felony unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and domestic assault. He is being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.

Adam Wiegand is charged with assault in the third degree on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.  He is being held on a $7,500 cash only bond.

The officer who was cut on the hand was treated and released, suffering only minor injuries.
