Drivers concerned about rocks hitting their cars on Route 364

(KMOV.com) – Many drivers are concerned that gravel from a construction project on Highway 364 is hitting their cars.

Motorists told News 4 small rocks are hitting their cars on the stretch of Route 364 over Creve Coeur Park. MoDOT said the gravel is from work on the eastbound lanes, intended to make sure water does not go through the bottom of the bridge that goes over part of Creve Coeur Lake.

“First we out down the poxy then we overlay it with the aggregate, which is to provide a high friction treatment and the poxy seals the deck,” said Lisa Kuntz with MoDOT. “There are little particles that aren’t glued down completely, but they stick just enough to not get swept up and then somebody drives over it, they come loose.”

MoDOT warns drivers ahead of time about loose rocks. The project is expected to be completed soon and MoDOT has no plans for the same type of work on the westbound lanes.
