Two St. Louis area residents die from West Nile virus

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two people from the St. Louis area died from West Nile virus within the last month, according to officials with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. 

Authorities said a 92-year-old St. Louis County woman and a 76-year-old St. Louis city man died because the virus.  The pair’s deaths come just a little more than a week after the virus killed a St. Clair County woman. .

Resident Vanita McClendon said she’s concerned about how dangerous mosquitoes may be.

“It's scary because you get it from mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are everywhere,” said McClendon.

According to officials, six people have contracted the virus in St. Louis County and three have done so in St. Louis City.
