BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

The U.S. Marshal Service captured one of Tulsa, Oklahoma's most wanted fugitives in Belleville, Illinois on Wednesday.

Juane Johnson, 40, was wanted for domestic assault, rape, battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and deadly assault. .

Johnson is accused of punching his ex-girlfriend in the face, biting her wrist, hitting her with a two-by-four and then raping her back in July.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Tom Woods said Johnson was reported to be in the Belleville area on Sept. 1.

Johnson was found at a relative's apartment in the 500 block of East C Street, Woods said.

After federal agents arrived and entered the apartment, they called out for Johnson to open the bedroom door but he did not respond. When Johnson would not respond to the officers, they knocked down the bedroom door to find Johnson hiding.

Johnson surrendered and was taken to the St. Clair County Jail. He was being held there on Wednesday until he was transported back to Tulsa.

Woods said the family members honestly did not know he was wanted.
