St. Louis tourism flourished in 2014, despite unrest

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Despite the unrest in Ferguson last year, officials said part of the St. Louis tourism industry still flourished in 2014.

St. Louis Convention and Visitor's Commission president Kitty Radcliffe said the sales team booked 140 events at the America's Center, exceeding its annual goal.

"We've taught our folks how to talk differently about St. Louis and about what's been going on here," said Radcliffe. "We have a lot to celebrate...in our community, but that doesn't gloss over some of the issues that surfaced last year."

With the proposal of a new football stadium, the commission is now looking at how to use the convention complex differently to compete against other cities.
