BELLEVILLE, Il. (KMOV.com) - Isabella Schebiel, 9, prefers to go by Izzy, and is a very active dancer. But she does play favorites.

"I love ballet the most," Izzy said.

She's danced since she was two-years-old. Like the other girls in her studio, she dresses the part, wearing a leotard and ballet shoes while she perfects her points and plies.

But Izzy wears something the other girls don't - a glucose monitor. Izzy was diagnosed with Type 1 juvenile diabetes.

"I just immediately started crying," said Kim Schebiel, Izzy's mother. "I think the hardest part for me being the mommy is I can't fix it."

But she could fight it. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is hosting a walk in St. Charles to raise money to find a cure. Izzy has her own team - and they'll all be wearing tutus.

Izzy said when she was diagnosed, she didn't know anything about juvenile diabetes. She said she thought it was some sort of disease.

"It's hard to live with...but you can live with," Izzy said.
