KIRKWOOD (KMOV.com) -

Four people were taken into custody for their alleged roles in vehicle and gun thefts that occurred in Glendale, Kirkwood, and Webster.

Authorities believe the four suspects are responsible for break-ins of 200 cars, all of which were unlocked. The thieves are accused of stealing guns and other items. Several cars had keys inside.

Patrick Pette, Jared Johnson, Edward Johnson, and Devonta Holmes are all facing felony charges.

“If they have your keys, they have your house and then they have you, and people don’t seem to connect those dots,” said Kirkwood Police Chief Jack Plummer.

Plummer said the arrested suspects did not break into homes, but believe others involved with the thefts may do so.

“It’ just the tip of the iceberg,” Plummer said.

Police believe the majority of the stolen items have been sold and may be difficult to return to victims.
