Godfrey man sentenced to 10 years for child pornography

GODFREY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A Godfrey, Illinois man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to using file sharing programs to download child pornography, according to court documents.

Adam B. Hill, 35, was seen photographing young children outside a local swimming pool on June 30, authorities said.

When officers confront Hill about the allegations, he gave them consent to search his vehicle, where a Kodak digital camera and metal pipe used for smoking marijuana was located, court documents read.  Hill was arrested and interviewed regarding the incident at the pool.

During the interview, authorities said, Hill admitted to using file sharing programs to download child pornography. A forensic examination of Hill’s computer recovered over 3,500 image files and 185 video files containing child pornography.

In addition to the prison sentence, Hill was ordered to pay $24,000 in restitution to the victims, a $200 fine and a special assessment of $100. After being released, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
