BRENTWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Eight people were transported to the hospital after an ammonia leak was reported at the Brentwood Recreation Center Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the “significant” leak occurred at the center, located in the 2500 block of South Brentwood, around 11 a.m.

As a precaution, four firefighters, three civilians and one city worker were taken to the hospital.

According to officials, the ammonia leak has been capped and is contained to the ice rink where ammonia is kept for the refrigeration system for the ice.
