PINE LAWN, Mo. (KMOV.com) - By the end of the day, the Pine Lawn board may determine the future of their police force.

Tuesday night's meeting is expected to further discussions on the possibility of disbanding the city's police department. Pine Lawn residents will get the chance to share their thoughts on the issue before the board discusses personnel matters behind closed doors.

News 4's Alexis Zotos confronted city leaders earlier this month about plans to disband the police department. None of those leaders commented, but Pine Lawn Police Chief Maurice Brown said he thought that was what city leaders wanted. Brown said he believed the department has improved under his guidance and that other agencies cannot police the city as well as the officers who are already in police.

At this point, it appears likely that St. Louis County Police would take over if the board disbanded the Pine Lawn police department. The St. Louis County north patrol site could serve as a well-located home base to serve the Pine Lawn community.
