O'FALLON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A school bus transporting students from Noye Elementary struck two people on Highway 50 in O'Fallon, Illinois Tuesday evening.

Junu Rai, 36, died following the accident and 45-year-old Dal Mager is recovering in the hospital.

No elementary students were seriously injured, but school officials are offering support for those who may have witnessed the tragic event.

"At a young age we want to make sure we have counseling support in case they have fears about riding a bus or have concerns about what they have seen," said O'Fallon District 90 Superintendent Carrie Hruby.

Hruby said the district also wants to maintain an open line of communication with parents and let them know help is available for their children.

Social workers provide services to each of the district's schools on a regular basis. If a crisis occurs that requires more counselors, Hruby said neighboring districts are always willing to offer additional help.
