Students at Koch Elementary dedicated a special song to remember their former classmate, Jamyla Bolden. The 9-year-old was recently laid to rest after being shot and killed while doing homework inside her Ferguson home.

Garland Williams said teaching his music class the lyrics to "That's What Friends Are For" helped the fourth graders cope with their loss.

"A lot of the times children have frozen feelings. For them to be able to express love, I think helped them through the grieving process," said Willaims.

The students also performed the musical rendition at Jamyla's funeral.

"One thing that I'll never forget is that she was just so kind, just amazing," said Nekaybaw Thompson, a friend of Jamyla.
