2 men hospitalized following late-night North City shooting
Officers responded to a home with just a house description, not a house number. They went to the back of the home, and gunfire broke out, the police chief said.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Two men are hospitalized and one is in police custody after a late-night shooting.
Authorities responded to the 800 block of Canaan Avenue, next to Hickey Park, around 9:40 p.m. after receiving reports of shots being fired.
When police arrived to the area, they reported seeing a 29-year-old suspect sitting inside a vehicle and firing shots a dark-colored sedan. The suspect vehicle was seen driving away from the scene and officers began pursuing it.
When the suspect vehicle entered the 6100 block of West Florissant, police said, a second suspect, who was a passenger of the vehicle, exited and took off on foot.
The 29-year-old suspect was taken into custody after stopping the vehicle and attempting to run in the 4200 block of California.
Following the incident, two men arrived at separate hospitals with gunshot wounds. Police believe the men sustained the wounds from the suspects while in the 800 block of Canaan.
One of the men sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and the other suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Both men are listed in stable condition.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect who fled the vehicle on West Florissant.
The investigation is ongoing.
