DE SOTO, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

An investigation is underway after the vehicle of a missing De Soto man was found at the scene of a car accident three months after he went missing.

On Saturday, someone on a bicycle spotted a crashed vehicle down a heavily wooded revine along Highway 110 just outside the De Soto city limits.

Authorities said the maroon-colored Chevy Lumina belonged to 29-year-old Andrew Craig, who was last seen on June 2.

Craig's vehicle was involved in a single-car crash possibly around the time he went missing, according to police. The driver was reportedly ejected from the car and found dead at the crash scene.

David Mazo, Craig's childhood friend, said he was surprised no one noticed the vehicle sooner.

"I mean it shocked me that nobody noticed anything.. I just found it strange," said Mazo.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is awaiting autopsy results to confirm the identity of the driver. However, family and friends said they strongly believe Craig was driving the vehicle when the crash happened, since his wallet was also discovered at the scene.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, investigators said autopsy results may take several days.
