Suspect in custody after leading police on chase from Caseyville into St. Louis

A man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit from Illinois into the City of St. Louis overnight.

CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit from Illinois into the City of St. Louis overnight.

The chase started in Caseyville when police attempted to stop a man who was suspected of driving under the influence.

During the chase, according to the Caseyville Police Department, the suspect tried to ram his car into a police cruiser.

After the chase crossed over into St. Louis, police laid down a spike strip near Seventh Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard.

The suspect was taken into custody after attempting to run from police after abandoning the vehicle on Seventh and Russell.

The suspect’s identity has not been released.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
