NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

The father of the toddler who fatally shot himself in North County has been charged.

Corey Epps, 26, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with physical evidence.  Epps allegedly left a loaded semi-automatic gun in a place where his son Carter had easy access to it. Police believe Carter would often play with the weapon. Carter fatally shot himself at his grandmother’s home in the 7700 block of Utica on August 25.

Authorities also allege Epps removed the gun and shell casings from the home before police arrived.

Epps is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
