(KMOV.com) - The former girlfriend of a Missouri man charged in a multi-state prostitution ring said the suspect made an unusual request prior to his arrest.

Nikki Martin claims 28-year-old Marcus Dewayne Thompson asked her to sell his gun on an online trading site just days before he was arrested on sex-trafficking charges.

"I was going to do it because I knew he was a felon," said Martin. "He never sent me the pictures, so I never elaborated on it."

According to court documents, one victim told federal investigators Thompson and his wife, Robin Thompson, possessed firearms and threatened violence.

A 15-year-old victim from Madison, Illinois said she made up to $1,000 a day by selling herself for the Thompsons. She claims Marcus propositioned her with an opportunity to model.

Martin said she has kept in contact with another young woman who posted Marcus's photo to Facebook, claiming he also propositioned girls in a St. Francis County park.
