NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The CEO of Ashley Madison's parent company, Avid Life Media Inc., is stepping down as of Friday.

The departure of CEO Noel Biderman' comes after a hack released confidential information about millions of Ashley Madison's clients.

The site was known as a dating site for married people who wanted to cheat on their spouses.
