EAST ST. LOUIS, Il. (KMOV.com) - A married couple from Park Hills, Missouri was charged with sex trafficking of a minor in federal court Monday.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen R. Wigginton made the announcement Tuesday. A news release from Wigginton said Marcus Dewayne Thompson, 28, and his wife Robin Thompson, 24, were charged with one count of sex trafficking of a minor by force, fraud, or coercion, and one count of conspiracy to do the same. 

Official documents said the Springfield Division of the FBI, and the Fairview Heights FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force are investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel T. Kapsak is prosecuting the case. 

If convicted, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton, the defendants could face a minimum of 15 years in prison.
