BELLEVILLE, ILL. (KMOV.com) – Police in Belleville responded to the first block of South 21st Street on Monday evening in reference to an armed robbery and home invasion.

According to police, after the victim, a 23-year-old man, answered his door two men asked him for another resident of the home who was not currently there.

One of the suspects then exposed a handgun and assaulted the victim. Both suspects then entered the residency and began rummaging through the home. The victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The first suspect was described as a 6’2” – 6’3” African American male in his late 20s with lots of tattoos on his neck and arms. At the time of the robbery the man was wearing a red hat, a white long sleeve shirt with grey sides, and black or gray shorts.

The victim stated the second suspect was a 5’6” African American male around 20-years-old. The suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and gray gloves during the incident.

After the suspects stole several items from the home they fled toward South 20th Street. Detectives are following several leads in the case and do not believe this was a random act of violence.
