Man who helped bring attention to Jamyla Bolden's death speaks to News 4

FERGUSON, MO (KMOV.com) – Throughout the weekend residents of Ferguson continued to show their support for Jamyla Bolden’s family.

Bolden, 9, was killed while working on her homework in her Ferguson home last week. Since the shooting the community has called for justice.

A local man, Shawn Williams quickly helped raise awareness following Bolden’s death. A video posted online showed Williams standing on the corner of Page and Union, alone.

Since then a lot has changed and News 4 spoke with Williams about the overwhelming support for Bolden and her family.

“It was beautiful. When I saw the little girl that was good enough for me. They say we want to live, we want to fight, I've been seeing stuff on the internet now and it's all been positive,” said Williams.

Williams encouraged those in St. Louis to continue speaking up on the violence in the community for Bolden and for anyone else who has been impacted by gun violence in the city.
