ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he was run over after crashing on Interstate 55 overnight.

Around 12:30 a.m., Christopher N. George, from St. Louis, was traveling northbound on the interstate when his motorcycle was involved in a single-vehicle accident, causing him to be ejected. After being ejected, an unknown vehicle struck George and left the scene.

George was pronounced dead on the scene following the accident.

A description of the vehicle that fled after striking George has not been released.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for more than four hours as accident reconstruction crews responded.
