FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KMOV.com) – Police in Fairview Heights responded to Pleasant Ridge Park Sunday for a reported vehicle break in.

According to police, the victim stated she had parked her vehicle near the playground while out with her family. Shortly after she noticed a blue car with its radio turned up had parked next to her vehicle.

The suspect sped off and the victim went to check her vehicle. She noticed the passenger side window had been smashed out and her purse had been stolen.

The suspect was described as a tall and slender African American male in his 20s.

After reviewing the surveillance footage detectives were able to determine the vehicle was a late model blue Chrysler 2000 with a Pennsylvania registration.

Detectives believe the suspect may be connected to similar crimes in the surrounding areas.
