ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 over the Meramec River reopened early Thursday morning, after a delay this week due to rain.

All lanes of the roadway were scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning but overnight rain forced crews to postpone the restriping work. The roadway, along with the ramp from Rudder Road, will now open at 5 a.m. Thursday, according to a tweet from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

On July 13, crews started construction to repair the pavement underneath the bridge's road surface.

Construction on the interstate's westbound lanes is scheduled to begin in September.
