ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Charles Police arrested a man in connection to a dozen burglaries.

In the early hours of Monday morning police say businesses along First Capitol Drive were broken into.

“I came into the office and I have a claw hammer in the tool box and I noticed it was in the middle of the floor,” said insurance agent Paul Hauser.

Hauser says he didn’t think much of it until he saw damage to his file cabinet and his basement window shattered.

“I noticed the claw marks in the file cabinet and thought, oh my gosh we've been burglarized,” said Hauser.

Hauser’s insurance agency, along with several other insurance companies along the street were all hit. Police say the thief was after cash.

“I guess they thought heck it was an insurance office, so money, so I’m sure they were looking for cash and I imagine they were disappointed what they found at my office,” said Hauser.

Police say when they responded to the alarms going off along First Capitol Drive they spotted man walking down the street. He was arrested on unrelated charges. Now police have charged Brendan Dumala, 17, with two counts of burglary.
