Vehicle stolen in Franklin County Thursday night

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Washington Police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle on Hwy 100 shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday. 

The vehicle was abandon in a driveway on Hwy V where a male and female fled in to the woods. 

Sheriff’s Office Communications received a phone call around midnight from a residence in the area stating that a male and female were at their residence and asked for assistance.  When the resident told them they would call law enforcement to assist them, they fled. 

A deputy spotted a male and female fitting the description walking along the road with scratches and mud on their clothing.  The female initially stated that their vehicle had broken down in Sedalia and they had walked to that location.

Both suspects were taken into custody for an investigation of car theft. 

Charges have been filed against the 18-year-old male suspect, Adonis Morris from Kansas City. He is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, bond has been set at $20,000.

The female later admitted to stealing the vehicle, but no charges have been filed against her.
