ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( – Saturday morning, several community members will gather to take a stand against violence in the St. Louis area.

The event, called ‘Mothers Against Killing,’ will place moms at the forefront of the anti-violence campaign. The event hopes to bring together mothers who have lost loved ones to a homicide and the mothers of children who have been involved in those crimes.

Pastor Tommy Tucker of New Direction STL Ministries told News 4 he got the idea for the event from his wife.

“The center focus of this community fair rests on the empowerment piece,” Pastor Tucker said. “So we’ve invited over a hundred different service providers that have social resource services that will benefit the community. Everything from legal services to mental health services.”

Event organizers will assemble at Fairground Park at the corner of Natural Bridge and Grand Boulevard at 7 a.m. A march is scheduled to begin at that location starting at 9 a.m.  The march will end at 19th Street near Rauschenbach Park where a community fair will be held.
