UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) –  Two teenagers who allegedly rammed a police vehicle during a chase following a home invasion in University City Friday morning are in custody.

Around 3:20 a.m., police received a call for a home invasion in the 1100 block of Belrue Avenue. According to police, a woman screamed after she confronted two male teens inside her home. After spotting the suspects, the woman’s husband got into his car and attempt to follow the suspects.

Officers quickly responded and found the suspect vehicle on Kingsland. The officers stopped the car in the area of Kingsland and Plymouth, where they ordered the suspects out. The suspects did not comply, at which time an assisting officer arrived at the scene. The suspects then rammed their vehicle into the assisting officer’s vehicle.

After striking the assisting officer’s vehicle, the suspect vehicle turned around, struck another police car and sped off towards Sutter.

Officers continued pursuing the vehicle until it crashed at the intersection of Sutter and Plymouth. Two officers exited their vehicle and ordered the suspects out again, at which time one of the suspects revved the vehicle’s engine and began to accelerate towards the officers. The officers then fired 20 shots at the suspect vehicle. Police said one suspect was wounded in the hand.

The suspect vehicle left the scene and officers continued pursuing it until they lost it at Page and Newstead.

The suspects were driving a dark Acura with the Missouri license plate HH4 H1D. The front bumper of the suspect vehicle was dislodged and left at the accident scene. The suspect vehicle also sustained damage to the back window. According to police, the suspect vehicle was reported stolen out of St. Louis County. It was later found near an apartment building in the 5800 block of Etzel in north St. Louis.

One of the officers was injured when the suspect vehicle struck a police car.

According to police, house keys and car keys were missing from the house where the home invasion occurred, but police later recovered one of the keys. Nobody inside the home was injured during the incident.

Both suspects are 15-years-old. The suspect hit by a bullet was treated and released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the University City Police-Bureau of Investigations at 314-725-2211 ext. 8010 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
