Two women are facing charges for allegedly damaging a car and assaulting a driver on I-70 when the highway was shut down by protesters.

Brittany Ferrell is charged with felony property damage, misdemeanor trespassing, and misdemeanor peace disturbance.  Alexis Templeton is charged with misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor trespassing, and misdemeanor peace disturbance.

The two were allegedly part of a group that shutdown westbound I-70 in Earth City during Monday’s rush hour.

Authorities said the victim’s car was stopped and tried to move forward through the crowd when Ferrell allegedly kicked the driver’s side door, causing nearly $5,000 in damages. Templeton is accused of punching the victim in the face through the open driver’s side window, causing a black eye.
