Charges filed against 36 people suspected of dealing, possessing heroin

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The Illinois State Police are asking for help locating people suspected of dealing and possessing heroin in the Metro East.

During a news conference Monday, officers announced charges against 36 people accused of possessing heroin. Fourteen of the suspects are in police custody facing drugs and weapons charges.

Authorities are seeking help locating the other suspects.

In Madison County, 31 deaths from heroin have been reported in 2015. Authorities believe a strong batch of heroin from Mexico is responsible for recent overdoses.
