( – A 17-year-old man was charged after he allegedly fired a gun during peaceful protests a little after midnight on Sunday.

According to police, Trevion Hopson, 17, was attending a protest for the one-year anniversary of the officer involved shooting of Michael Brown. During the gathering, Hopson allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at a specific target, police say.

The incident happened in the area of W. Florissant and Ferguson Avenue. After police responded to the scene, a victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Family Dollar. He was transported a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
