MEHLVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The Mehlville School District said it is considering asking voters to decide on a 50 cent property tax increase.

The school board will likely decide whether to move forward with the hike at the August 17 meeting, officials said. If voters approve the possible levy, it would be the district's first tax increase in 30 years.

The district currently faces a $2 million deficit and recently cut $4 million from the budget.
