St. Peters police seek help locating person responsible for hitting skateboarder overnight

ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A search is underway in St. Peters for a vehicle that hit a skateboarder early Thursday morning.

The suspect vehicle hit a 24-year-old skateboarder on McClay Road near Jaq-Mar Court around 12:45 a.m. After striking the man, the vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction.

Witnesses told police they saw a pick-up truck at the scene directly after the victim was struck. According to police, the vehicle should have damage to the front, including a damaged windshield.

"We get on the scene, we see a male pedestrian, there's a skateboard next to him, he's bleeding from the head, he is very badly injured," said Officer Melissa Doss of St. Peters Police.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to recover.
