Francis Howell School District holding meeting after Proposition Y failed

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Francis Howell School District plans to hold a school board meeting Thursday night to discuss the next steps after a property tax hike failed to pass Tuesday’s election.

Proposition Y, which would have given the district $18 million, was not approved by voters, which means several things could be on the chopping block, including sports, clubs and bus services.

The superintendent of the district issued a statement Wednesday saying the district is disappointed the proposition did not pass. The statement also stated the administration and board would “be working to make some additional reductions for this coming school year to bring expenditures in line with declining revenue.”

Thursday night’s meeting is an open session, meaning parents and students can attend. It will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.
