Bond issue for infrastructure improvement in city fails

Posted: Updated:
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Voters rejected a $180 million bond issue that officials said would have paid for infrastructure improvements.

Even though 61 percent of those who went to the polls in St. Louis City supported the measure, 66 percent (two-thirds) was needed for passage.

Had the measure passed, around 40 percent of the funds would have gone towards replacing aging fire department equipment. Other funds would have been targeted for improvements to streets and other needs.
