ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Three men are facing charges for allegedly kidnapping and robbing several visitors in Alton.

Deangelo Collins, 21, Lateef Hobbs, 20, and Reginald Alexander, 20 are charged with four counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking, and four counts of aggravated kidnapping.

Authorities said the three suspect began to talk to the victims, one of whom is a juvenile, at the Cowboy Market before things took a turn for the worse.

“At some point we’re not really sure why, but some kind of decision was made on the part of the bad guys and they decided they were going to rob them and take them out of the area,” said Lt. Dave Dewall with Alton police.

Police said the suspects then stuffed three of the victims into the trunk of their own car before the alleged culprits drove around with the fourth victim. Police said they stopped along Humbert Road in rural Madison County, where they let the victims out. The suspects then allegedly stole their cell phones and wallets before assaulting them.

The victims then knocked on the door of a nearby home, where the owner called 911.
