ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A man from south St. Louis's Dutchtown neighborhood was charged with eight felonies and two misdemeanors after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend and forcing his young daughters to assist him. The attack reportedly occurred on Friday morning in the man's home in the 3900 block of California.

Donnell Tyson, 28, allegedly punched and choked his girlfriend and forced his daughters, ages 6 and 9, to hold a gun to the woman's head and get a knife from the kitchen. Tyson reportedly then used to knife to cut the woman's throat.

The woman was also shot in the face and sustained a graze wound, officials said.

The charges filed against Tyson include domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child, kidnapping and armed criminal action.

No information was released on the condition of the victim.

Tyson is being held on $200,000 cash-only bond and is due in court on September 14.
