Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOV.com) – An 'accidental death' that occurred in February has now been ruled a homicide following an investigation.

Officers responded to the 3900 block of N. Florissant on February 19 around 9 p.m. after the victim was found lying on the front porch of the residence, unresponsive. The victim, 44-year-old Charles Taylor had suffered trauma to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the incident, a family member told investigators that the victim had just been released from the hospital. The case was originally classified as an ‘accidental injury’ and due to the position of the body police believed Taylor had fallen and struck his head on a nearby wrought iron fence.

The incident was reclassified after the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be ‘blunt craniocerebal trauma’.

The investigation is ongoing.
