Suspect wanted for allegedly dragging police officer down road in north St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A search is underway after an unidentified male driver allegedly fled a traffic stop and dragged a police officer Friday night in North County. 

The Velda City Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a unspecified violation just in front of police headquarters. During the stop the suspect fled the scene dragging the officer a short distance which prompted fellow officers to give chase. However, the lost sight of the suspect during the high speed chase.

According to the Velda City Police Facebook page, the officer sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital. He did return to work Saturday. 

Officers are searching for the suspect's vehicle - a silver Chrysler 300. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Velda City Police at 636-529-8210.
