ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A local organization is getting involved and hoping to promote peace throughout the City of St. Louis.

The S.T.O.P. organization will host an anti-violence festival Friday afternoon at Fairground Park.

The goal of the event is to bring together neighborhoods that are torn apart from violent crimes. The organization also wants to start a community conversation about how to make St. Louis a safer place to raise children.

Event organizers said the first step to creating a safer environment starts at home. They said it is important for children to spend time with family.

The event will run from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and will have free food for all attendees.
