ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

People who steal cell phones usually try to keep a low profile, but one alleged thief revealed himself on a victim's social media account.

A man, who asked to remain anonymous, said someone stole his iPhone from inside his vehicle parked in the Soulard Neighborhood. Several days later, the victim said a strange man's picture appeared in the photo section of his Facebook page.

He said whoever stole the device must have snapped a selfie and accidentally sent it to the Facebook account already signed into the phone.

Since this incident, the victim said the suspect has not uploaded any other images to his account.

St. Louis police are looking into this case to see if the photo leads to the thief.
