Car called eyesore by Lafayette Square residents towed after News 4 report

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Shortly after News 4's report aired, the car was towed

An abandoned car parked on the street in in Lafayette Square has residents wondering why it is still there.

Tickets have been placed on the windshield, seven in total. Erin Pennington has lived in the area for six years and said the car looks hideous on her block.

"It's an eyesore. We are the very last block of Lafayette Square. That block already has some aesthetic issues and that car illegally parked certainly is not doing the neighborhood any favors," said Pennington.

Pennington said the car has been on the corner of Lafayette and Jefferson since July 4. Despite her efforts to contact the city and get it removed, the car is still there.

"I think it's inattention, I think it's probably city services that, maybe the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing," said Pennington.

News 4 reached out to the St. Louis Police Department but they did not return repeated calls.
