Storms cause damage, flooding, power outages across St. Louis area

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A line of storms left behind damage as it moved through the St. Louis area Monday afternoon and evening.

News 4 received reports of downed power lines along Clayton Road in West St. Louis County. Crews continued to work to make repairs throughout the day on Tuesday.

Ameren said a total of 12 utility poles were down and that around 10,000 residents in West County did not have power at one time. Officials with Ameren said crews worked through the night and power should be restored during the Tuesday morning hours. As of 6:00 Wednesday morning, less than 50 remained without power in West County. 

A tree near Chamberlain Drive in the Ballwin area was uprooted, landing on a shed in a backyard. 

Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur lost power for about two hours, but a back-up generator kept essential functions going.

Columbia, Illinois officials said some streets were flooded, including Gall and Vallmayer Roads.
