World Cup qualifier for US set for St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Busch Stadium will have a slightly different look for its next soccer game.

The U.S. men will play its first qualifier for the 2018 World Cup in St. Louis on Nov. 13, facing either St. Vincent & The Grenadines or Aruba. The pitch will be regulation size, 75 yards by 110 yards. That's three yards wider than for the U.S. women's exhibition match against New Zealand in April.

Women's coach Jill Ellis gave the layout a thumbs-up after a game that drew attendance of 35,817, the largest in U.S. history for a stand-alone women's team friendly. The layout was smaller the regulation because the stadium configuration couldn't be changed with the baseball season beginning.

Organizers in November will be able to make field alterations. Tickets on sale August 5 at 10 a.m. To buy them online, click here or call 314-345-9000
