Volunteers wanted to help clean up Ferguson

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – Ferguson officials are looking for volunteers to help clean up one of the areas that was hardest hit during last year’s unrest.

“A lot of people are coming in just to stand with the city and stand with Ferguson,” said Wesley Bell, Councilman of Ward 3. “With everything that’s been going on, I think there’s going to be a focus on the city again. I like the fact that we’re focusing on positive things.”

The “Clean up West Florissant” event is planned for Monday morning and will be held at the location where the QuikTrip gas station once stood. The lot is going to become a job center training site.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided as several local partners plan to participate.

“I’m not nervous, I’m excited,” Bell said. “It’s an opportunity. Everyone is watching everything we do. Changes that we do are going to have an effect, not only regionally, but nationwide and internationally.”

The event is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the future home of the Urban League Training Center.
