Residents concerned as violence escalates outside corner market

Posted: Updated:

Shoppers in south St. Louis were forced to take cover as gunfire erupted outside of a corner market injuring three with the shooter still on the loose.

The shooting happened at Brandis Food Market near the intersection of Nebraska and Winnebago. No arrests have been made and the only descriptions witnesses have been able to provide police are two men and two women inside of a gold sedan.

But what has people concerned is the escalating brazenness of these criminals as the latest incident happened at lunch time in front of a store.

“That’s a corner store. Anybody could have been coming out of the business,” witness Roger King said. “They just rolled up, said what they had to say and the gun came out the window and he started spraying.”

Witnesses also told News 4 the shooting was in retaliation, however, they don’t have much hope that any arrests will be made.

All three victims are in stable condition.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers.
