FESTUS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Festus police are searching for the people accused of firing several BB gun pellets at a 13-year-old boy.

Authorities said the teen was riding his bike home from school when two suspects inside a red car shot him with a BB gun at the intersection of West Main and Collins.

At least two pellets hit the 13-year-old, causing minor injuries, police said.

"They weren't life threatening, but you could still see two red marks where they had hit him," said Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis. "It's very concerning because it could have been very dangerous."

The victim reportedly told investigators he did not know the people inside the car.

Police describe the suspects' vehicle as a red 2008 or 2009 Ford Mustang with a spoiler and white emblem in the back window.
