SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Police said a man led police on a foot chase after he robbed a bank in south St. Louis County Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said the man walked into a bank at intersection of Reavis Barracks and Union around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, announced a robbery, and then left a package before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities said an officer later noticed the suspect walking along the side of northbound I-55. The officer got out of his car and pursued the suspect on foot.

Police said the officer lost sight of the suspect before a search involving a K9 was launched. Authorities said the K9 found the suspect and bit him in the neck. He was taken to a hospital.

Detectives examined the package that was left behind and determined it was safe.
