Manholes on Manchester Road frustrate drivers

BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Manholes on Manchester Rd. have drivers frustrated.  Mike Buzzanga said he's sick and tired of the project and wants to see the road paved now.

"I'm frustrated with this whole process, to be honest with you,” said Buzzanga.

It's a feeling that he's going to have to deal with, at least for now.  He works at JB Automotive and Tire in Ballwin and has to travel Manchester Rd. every day.

Luckily Buzzanga has avoided manholes, but says some of his customers have hit them, causing minor accidents.

"There's been a few people worried about their alignments and having to look at a tire if they hit them real hard," said Buzzanga. He said if you hit one hard enough you can damage the front suspension of your vehicle.

Buzzanga just wants to know why the project taking so long, which is a question News 4 took to MoDOT Engineer Karen Yeomans.

"We understand that. The road is busy and we can only work at night, which limits how fast we can go,” said Yeomans.

Yeomans said resurfacing and upgrading nearly seven miles of road was necessary.

"In any construction project we ask for the drivers to slow down. Be aware that the manholes are out there," said Yeomans.

This project is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
